In my downtime, I wrote a program to overlay water depth on top of maps to find new rock ledges to try.
Depending on how far we're allowed to travel and the wind direction/strength I'm looking to slowly try out both the great ocean road side as well as Gipps.

Re: Covid-19 discussion
At the end of the day, Demand drives business which leads to jobs. Even if we were to lift all restrictions right now, and be damned with the human cost, a lot of those jobs that people left, won't exist anymore and so there is nothing to return to. The economy is circular - in that every dollar you...

Re: Covid-19 discussion
Except by the time Newman made that protest not a single case was attributed to a golf course in any other state in the country. And yet Dan had the gall to throw out his no round of golf is worth peoples lives rhetoric. A line he threw out well after the lifting of the ban on surfing that occured ...

Re: Newport Warmies
so this salting trick, is it as simple as just throwing a bit of table salt into a bag of bait cubes? does it take some time to cure? I salt cure leftover IQF pillies and sardines when they're on sale at my local market. Salt curing essentially drains the water out the fish and firms up the fish. G...

Crabs Galore
Went down earlier today to Rosebud and Rye pier for some potential squid fishing. Rosebud had 2 fishers - donuts all day. Wind was cold we decided to go check out Rye since I find it productive even on not-ideal weather. Oddly enough when we got there, there was a large group of people at the very e...

Re: Crabs Galore
Intertidale zone ??? PM bugs for a good receipe Should place the upside down, per bug Gra That's a good point. We double checked the depth (>2m) so it's not in the intertidal zone. As you'll see below, recipe can wait. If I ever catch a big mud/sand crab though, will definitely pm for a recipe :-D ...

Re: Degree in fishing
Sounds very interesting! The Science of Fishing unit fee is waived, but to access that you are required to enroll in the Diploma of Sustainable Living which does cost. I'd imagine the content would be similar to Marine Biology/Marine Science degrees offered by Australian Uni's, maybe with a greater...

Re: Moving to Docklands - Looking for Advice
If you're apartment hunting, be sure to get one with a parking space. Otherwise it adds up and super inconvenient. The rental market has dropped dramatically over the past few months so you're going to get a great deal for a place to stay. If actually suggest you don't actually stay in docklands its...

Re: Any tips for cherry lake?
The carp there are always on the move, often along the edges. You'd be surprised how shallow even the big carp will come. Tomorrow (Saturday) is reasonably overcast so you should be able to sight them. Softs and lures have never worked for me there, but unweighted corn under a float mid water works ...
