Maribyrnong River, 09/01/21

I went down to the Maribyrnong River this morning and fished through the high tide from 9:30am to 12:30pm before heading to the in-laws' place to mow their lawns. Since Anaconda had none of my favourite baits in stock (no prawns, pipis or earthworms) I settled for salted pilchards in the hope of lan...

Fifteen trout & 200th for the season.

Fifteen trout & 200th for the season. Perfect weather was forecast and with the Meander River running at 60 cms it was time for another fast water spin session today. I was in the river by 7:20 am and the conditions were perfect as forecast, the river was running cool and clear it couldn't have been...

Happy New Years Everyone! I wanted to give you all an update on the current fishing at St Leonard's Pier. King George Whiting remain a favourite at the pier with large schools in both the day and night with nights being more productive on the bite. Calamari are very quiet and for the past few weeks ...

Port yesterday

Haven't done a report for a long time so here goes! Launched solo at Clifton S yesterday around 9.30am, the ramp was quiet but the car park was packed full, I was lucky to get a spot as a guy was just leaving, glad I didn't go earlier. Picked up 3 good calas off Beacon Point then went to Portarlingt...

Spent a couple of hours in the river today, had four hits for just the one solid rainbow (approx 600 gms) hooked which I finished up losing while messing around getting the camera out much to my disgust.. That rainbow had I landed it would have been a season best rainbow too but it wasn't to be. On ...

Lakes whiting.

Hey folks. The whiting are really firing at the moment even though there are a LOT of boats around. It appears that late afternoon sessions are more successful than daytime. Whilst the good old pipie is still a favourite, we have been doing well on mussel and green (raw) prawn. Surprisingly we haven...

St lennys snapper, squid, whiting, makerel, pike, garfish

Been a while since posted a report, got the opportunity to go for a fish with my uncle at st Leonard's pier. It was packed when we got there and we struggled to find a spot but managed a small area in the middle somewhere. Everyone was pulling in whiting and pinkies, unfortunately there was too much...

Flathead success!

After promising to take a good mate of mine out on the kayaks I finally managed to get him out on the Bay this morning. The target species was flathead, easy to catch, tasty, and very accessible. So we set off, the kayaks were on top of each other on the trolley- not very sturdy but it had never bee...

Re: Lakes whiting.

plenty of good whiting between wooleston bay and sperm whale head.look for sandy patches in 2 meters of water amongst the weed, squid strip on a running sinker rig has been doing the trick, been having no problems bagging out in a couple of hours any time of day .
