Under the west gate crimson light

I've fished with lures, heavy to ultra light, boat and kayak, fly fishing lakes and streams, and lately baitfinesse (BFS), and yet there's still a romance and zen in landbased bait fishing with mates. Fished under the west gate this morning, got there about 6am with two other mates. Been a while sin...

Campbell's cove this morning

Not a bad morning in Campbell's cove. Plenty of action. Mostly undersized pinkies. Landed 5 legal sized, took 4 home for the family. Released all the undersized ofc. A lot of fun on baitcast finesse. 1/8 jighead with slim swimz bad shad. In case you're wondering, the smallest one is 28cm and the big...

Re: Selling Daiwa 20 Luvias FC LT 2000-S XH *like new*

So not an exclusive offer to Fishing Victoria members? No worries. I am still interested 👍 Haha, yeah sorry, I gotta be fair to the others too. I don't know how much the market price is if no one bids >$290 in the next few days, I'll message you. Or if you'd like to bid higher, send me a message. I...

Re: Berley

Never heard of it but maybe for luderick? I don't often use berley because it seems to attract the toadies banjos, etc. or because the tide is running so it seems pretty pointless. I always use some when fishing for gars. I sometimes wonder with all the berley going into PPB these days the snapper g...

Re: Basic Kayak

do the quick sums 125 kg max load 100 kg your kayaker 17 kg weight of the boat ( yes it will be in the equation ) and least a kg for the paddle so that is now 118 kg from 125 leaving 7 kg for extra weight like wet clothing over dry and we haven,t even thought about fishing gear or a bottle of water...

Re: Heading out Kayaking - All welcome

Hi everybody, I did launch at Clifton Springs this morning around 8am. A day to forget. Conditions were a little ordinary. Fish were scarce for me except for undersized pinkies. Two hours later decided to prop with the anchor first time and it got worse. I came off the kayak. Just being silly and n...

Re: Heading out Kayaking - All welcome

Hey Sebb, You’ve made my day better already with that comprehensive report. Thank you. Nice to know there were some fish to catch. Spoke to another guy on an Outback. He had 2 KGW and a Flathead. That was as I was heading back feeling a bit ordinary. There was another gentleman I met from Canberra ...

Re: Heading out Kayaking - All welcome

Sucks to hear about the anchor drama and loosing a combo Lenny! Rough way to end a session mate! Agreed with the comments on the wind, I let my place at 7.30am to 5km winds, reached the ramp five minutes later to 15km winds. The difference a few degrees in an easterly wind makes is crazy onshore vs ...

Re: Heading out Kayaking - All welcome

Lenny, no good you lost a good combo, years ago I lost my best outfit by knocking it over the side. Nowadays I run cheap sienna combos when fishing salt water. On a positive note, it is great that you remounted the kayak unassisted. A good reminder that I need to practice re-entry as it’s been a whi...
