Re: Soft plastics from piers
Hey mate I’m also quite new to this style of fishing, but it seems to me from a few experiences that using a 1/8oz jighead with a 2.5inch grub or slim swimz seems to get some action from flatties, pinkies and salmon.

Re: jiggin'
I've caught yakka before jigging small metals from mornington pier going for salmon, so best way is trial and error.
Just up and down a metre or so off the bottom.

Re: Braid for my bait rod?
Hey mate I've had the same rod snap on me when used bait fishing, I'd recommend getting something more suited for it, it depends what weights you'll be casting too. I'd recommend something like a 8ft/9ft rod with a 2500-4000 reel. I've found the nomad x8 braid they sell at anaconda to be good for th...

Re: St Leonards pier this morning 02/12/22
The floating fish I believe is a gobbleguts, most likely caught by someone and not released properly. Heaps of them around at night.

Re: Home & Fish and / or Camp & Fish?
I spent the almost a decade wandering around clifftops in Victoria and abroad, eventually found a spot I liked so much I moved here. I barely camp at all anymore, mostly because I have world class rock fishing at my doorstep and no need to travel long distances. I really really enjoy swag life, and...

Re: Any sambos off the surf yet?
Gunnamatta seems to be firing up, been busy lately though Nope. Gunnamatta was almost deserted yesterday. I beat the place to froth yesterday morning. Not a touch. Some bait soakers tried early but failed to catch anything. Others just dumped their left over baits by the toilet which was annoying. ...
