Re: Fisheries media release - Boat seized for illegal whiting haul

What happens is fisheries officers will cordinate a property search with police officers as police can search without a warranty under some conditions. Police and fisheries work very closely together. https://www.gallantlaw.com.au/victorian-property-searches-and-your-legal-rights/ "Typically, a poli...

Re: Might Clarify a few things.

The big question is, is it advice or legally enforceable law? We get different information from the deputy chief health officer, transport safety Victoria, VRFish and the water police. This goes a lot deeper than just fishing. It seems a deliberate ploy to obfuscate and blur the lines between what i...

Re: what's the weirdest thing you have found or seen while fishing?

A few years ago me and two mates hiked into a small inlet on the NSW coast. Was about a 5km hike from where you could park the car and was pretty steep going for most of it. We fished all day and went and had a flick of the rocks off the entrance before heading back. When walking back along the roc...

Re: Live bait traps

We tried a few of the retail products but for mullet you can't beat a bit of tupperware with a hole cut in it. Cam (GTShoon) made a couple of them for a Greencape trip and in 30 mins in an estuary we had a weeks baits.

Re: Live bait traps

I'm with Dougie, $105 for a plastic box with a hole in the top is pretty steep, I used to catch small fish in traps all the time as a kid with tupperware containers and 1L bottles with the necks reversed inwards, can't beat them, I'm thinking of catching some live mullet at lake tyers for big flatty...

Re: Shark ‘trophy’ hunters land in hot water

Come on mate when governments pass thousands of new laws each year it is unreasonable that the average person even one who is not ignorant will know them all. The lawmakers and those who enforce them don't know them all let alone the average bloke. Whilst this would only apply in rare cases if a pe...

St Leonards Snapper - 11/19/2022

Hey everyone, I'm sharing a quick report from a soft bait session this-morning at St Leonards Pier and christening my rod/reel on some snapper. Details: Fished 7:30 - 8:30am, run-in high tide, dirty water, overcast, NNE winds, 30km/hr. Ran 3/0 kl, with local squid thawed. It was really enjoyable to ...

Re: KGW Gippsland Lakes

Almost cut the grass yesterday... almost.... but made the mistake albeit late on in the day of looking at the Lakes Charter FB page and saw reports of KGW up to 47 cm. So an hour later around 2pm saw me facing the second "mistake' of the day launching rather haphazardly it must be said at Nungurner....

Re: LBG at JB '23-'24

I finished work at 11am yesterday and got out to the same spot for some more. Pretty ordinary conditions found me in a crosswind with a bit of rain as I was rolling up to the ledge, soaked head to toe from the only shower of the day on the 30 minute walk in. I could see some bustups and I was climbi...
