Re: Tasmanian fishing license money is better use then VIC, it snapper reseaching
All I can say is a hook with some nice smelly bait seems to out fish everything else in the deep water off lakes entrance. My theory is at 30-50 meters most days the fish can't see very far. They must work on smell. I have seen so many good snapper fishers from melb come out on the charter boat with...

Re: furuno/transducer combo for port phillip bay
Yes what Frozenpod said. A P66 transducer has 10deg beam on 200khz and 45deg on 50khz. If i recall correctly. To put that in perspective. Very narrow beams of 4-6 deg will make fish appear as small dots, but they do fantastic bottom shape pics. Cray fishermen looking for crevasses use them. At 10 de...

Re: furuno/transducer combo for port phillip bay
Really insightful and helpful, thanks! You mentioned that the 200khz is good for marking fish hard up on the bottom, can the 50khz mark fish close to the bottom as well? Thanks!
The pulse length determines how close to the bottom you can distinguish a fish. This is the time length ...

Re: Target One Million....is it working?
Lakes Entrance gets busier every year. Not sure if it is target. 1mil or just more attracted to offshore with the bar being better and the wave monitoring helping people work out conditions. The lake isn't gaining supporters as the fishing is tough going. Lots could be done to improve the lake fishi...

Re: Crabbing at Lake Entrance
Each year, from 15 September to 15 November (inclusive) you must not use a hoop net in any marine water other than Port Phillip Bay, Western Port, the Gippsland Lakes or any inlet of the sea. You can use them anywhere inside the lake system. This rule is to protect berried crayfish. If you want to c...
