Hi All Since it's nearing winter and the salmon are beginning to show up, I wanted to have a go at fishing from the beach. It looks like heaps of fun, but since I'm in bayside and I don't have my own car yet getting to an ideal place like Gunnamatta or Venus bay is pretty much off the table unfortu...

Re: Worms for Freshwater
Worms, earth worms are actually rather interesting, mainly because there are many different species. The old tiger worm is reportedly not the best to go fishing with.
My favourite worm for catching trout was a scrub worm only found in the high country like Cooma, Adaminaby.

Re: Do you read fishing books/magazines?

In addition: Here in South Australia, there aren't many mags focused on SA. And once you get past the basics of "rig, bait etc" , , , , they aren't helpful ...

Re: Sardines - are they as good as pilchards?
Hi folks, my local wholesale butcher has IQF sardines for $11kg and I buy them to give to my dogs once or twice a week in their dinner. (Omega 3 oils etc - they absolutely LOVE them and crunch down on them as the first thing they eat from the bowl) BUT the thing I want to know is what do you reckon...

Re: Apollo Bay - 08/06 - AM
....... Not only do some Plillies just fly off and become berley instead of bait , , , , they are that soft (even with half hitching the tail) that one tap from an inquisitive fish and they are off the hook, both the Pillie and the now grateful fish. It's a pain seeing a nibble and knowing there is...

Re: Bar crossing goes wrong
Some people may laugh but the Patterson River entrance into Port Phillip bay is classified as a bar. In certain conditions, decent size waves can be present at the entrance. For example, if there has been a bit of rain and large volumes of water are flowing out of the Patterson River with an outgoin...
