Re: Cornacarpio's Cumulative Carp Culling Caper

Tried the creek on Thursday, but as is usually the case these days, the Carp were not interested. One by one they would sniff my bait and ignore it. 'Twas a nice day, so I hoped on the train at nearby Glen Iris station and got off at Burnley. From there I cycled to Albert Part Lake. Upon circumnavig...

Re: Cornacarpio's Cumulative Carp Culling Caper

After a hard day of work - and after checking the weather forecast - which predicted significant rain for tomorrow (today) and for the rest of the week, I decided I basically had to go fishing. My hands were tied. So, I hopped on the treadly had headed down the creek to one of my 'tried and true' sp...

Re: Cornacarpio's Cumulative Carp Culling Caper

Carp rigs are pretty basic - small float with a hook about 30cm under it works well, particularly in warm weather, running sinker is my 'go-to' rig and of course the paternoster rig.

Re: Cornacarpio's Cumulative Carp Culling Caper

Headed down to the creek today in (relatively) frigid conditions to try and catch a carp. In fact, the only reason I even bothered was that I got snapped off by a big Bertha the day before yesterday (Thursday), so I had some unfinished business to take care of! My trip today mirrored my unsuccessful...

Re: Cornacarpio's Cumulative Carp Culling Caper

Had a mildly productive day down at creek on Monday. Got one fairly early on (within 10 minutes) and had to wait a bit longer for the second one. They both fought well above their weight sending the rod (almost) flying into the water and the reel absolutely 'zinging'. Both headed straight upstream a...

Re: Cornacarpio's Cumulative Carp Culling Caper

Just the one from the creek on Wednesday , probably only 30 or 40 cms. Had to try a few spots before I got him, and - as usual; just before dark. Only a small one - but he nearly pulled the rod into the water and put up a terrific fight. This one was caught on...bread-rolls (or part thereof), as the...

Re: How do you have your Coffee?

Nescafe Latte Coffee sachets - which the supermarkets NEVER seem to have when they're on special!

Can't go back to the old blend 43 now!

Re: Cornacarpio's Cumulative Carp Culling Caper

Headed out today for my legally sanctioned 'exercise' on my bicycle, observing the principles of 'social distancing' at all times. I also just happened to be pack a couple of rods as I was riding along the creek....fishing is a sport after all, and a perfectly legitimate form of exercise IMO. It was...

Re: Cornacarpio's Cumulative Carp Culling Caper

Snuck out for a sneaky little fish yesterday in very murky water and ended up with one right as I was about to leave. That murky water water as a result of the rain we had the other day seems to have resulted in a black-water event and some fish kill. Saw several floating Carp and Eels down there to...
