Post by bowl » Thu Jan 02, 2020 9:43 am

Hello
Got up early and was on water by 5am.
Was on me way to wedge when engine started reving and boat going nowhere.
So stopped boat and decided to fish where I was, about 1 K from wedge , 5 Meyers.
Ting Went ok for a hour and stopped, pinkies came and went.
Kgw came back but were tiny..
It was walking pace back to ramp .

I had that happen to me years ago the Bush let go massive over rev and my sounder never worked again properly after that I had to sent it to hummingbird repair in qld. You can have the bushes replaced they press them in with glue.

I've had that happen a couple of times. First time resulted in a long, slow, wet trip home across Port Stephens in a howling nor-easter. Now I always carry a spare prop with me. Saves a lot of heartache and frustration. New aftermarket props are a competitive and simpler alternative to pressing new bushes into an old prop I reckon.
The spare prop only helps if you can get to shore to change it of course, but most failures will be obvious before you have gone too far from the ramp or because you have dragged the powered prop through a shallow bottom near shore.
