thanks for the help guys. its hard to tell the light and dark patches sometimes particularly where i have been fishing recently down at inverloch at low tide. maybe I'm trying to cast to far??? i just seem to be getting loads of weed on my sinkers and swivels and then it falls down onto the hooks.
in saying this i have caught a few i just want to catch more haha
whiting fishing
Re: whiting fishing
If youre fishing the inlet for kgw i suggest using a running sinker rig with 2ft leader.
When I got time,
I wet a line cos Im a junkie,
been fishin since a kid,
I like it cos it numbs me..

Make sure you have a pair of polaroid glasses on makes it a lot easier to see the light and dark patches , if your up for a real challenge get yourself some small surface poppers , find some good broken ground by this I mean light and dark patches of sand and weed and even rock , cast out as far as you can and work your popper back across the surface , you have to work the popper by short sharp pulls to get it's face spraying water and making noise , whiting will hit poppers and they hit them hard , makes for fun fishing and the upside is if there's any flathead or salmon or trevas hanging around your bycatch is good as well
