Fishing land based from a pier or rocks, when you've got a 3m+ distance from the water to the pier on best of days you'll sometimes struggle. Most species undersized or size you'll be fine, but having a longer net is something I'd rather have and not need than leave in the car.

My local pier depending on tide is 3-3.6m from the water to the pier, if you've got a squid barely hooked or a nice sized soft skinned fish like a leather jacket, you'll often lose them as you will pull the hooks. Tuesday we were hooking and landing 40cm+ pinkies on a low tide across rocks while others were unfortunately losing fish to the breakwater rocks or the lift. I call my net a safety net which is sometimes the difference between a PB fish, dinner or going home empty handed.
