Though there's factor X we don't know of. Thinking, changing and trying is a good start.
In my experience, it is easier to catch bream on light 1-3 kg rod with nibble tip than to use 8kg snapper rod. That snapper rod wont even move an inch from bream's subttle bite.

The thing is i can set everything and all i get is hits and 0 takers i target bream (tho normaly i never get the bloody things because a happy moment stole it p.s happy moments are rabit fish and they say the reason for the happy moment is when your no longer in pain) with everything i can legaly use so 3 rods, 3 diffrent hook sizes, 3 diffrent sinkers, diffrent line rating and color still 0, starting to think where i fish is just so smashed by everyone (and 2 people we wont talk about but lets say fisherys knows) that theres no fish there by the time i get around to fishing. Glad ive started to learn the way of squid fishing and more spots that arnt basicly shoulder to shoulder at times.

I see,... Could be it too, that the place has been hammered by fishos. A change of place with the same tricks can proof it.

Squid is good fun, relatively easy to catch, quick breeder and pretty sustainable. And gives rod bending action.

Just finished tying new leaders on all my rods using the FG.
What I’m good at: the first 20 or so wraps.
What I’m not so good at: getting those last couple of knots right on the back of the wraps without leaving a gap the leader can pull through once trimmed. I find it a lot easier with heavier line (~20lb) but not so easy to get neat on the lighter line

something weird like orange.

Cheers Matari
Who also thinks orange is a weird colour

Nothing wrong with Orange squid jigs!!!

It's actually my #1 choice with red being 2nd. :r

Yup, always a good idea to have green, white and orange or red jigs. In diff sizes too. Keep changing to find which one works. When you catch one, stick with it, usually works for few hours and hopefully catch another two or three.

Firstly, some pretty nice squid there Jon, and that is definitely the proof in the squid pudding, so well done (says the Bug as he re-evaluates orange jigs)

Only thing I can say, is it may have something to do with the water clarity of the part of the ocean that I fish for squid in, here in South Australia.

It could be that the water clarity in SA, distorts the Orange Spectrum in a way that , , , , I don't know, I'm just clutching at straws now.

I do use all coloured squid jigs BUT orange is my second least favourite coloured squid jig, only surpassed by orange

Cheers the Bug
(who owns and uses more than one orange squid jig but still thinks they look weird)
