Substitute for metho

Post by samjas1316 » Sat Mar 21, 2020 4:53 pm

Hi All

So today I wanted to use my smoker and I needed some metho. I have the following from anaconda

After going to a couple of Bunnings, local IGA, two Coles and Coles express and Woolies I finally found some at a BP on my way to another IGA. Grabbed a couple. My wife tells me people are grabbing them for the alcohol content as a disinfectant and house hold cleaner.

My question is: Can I use kero for the smoker as there seems to be plenty of that? It seems as if metho is the new toilet paper.

Hi, I'm not sure about the Kero for a smoker, it seems to burn having and leaving a petrol sutty smell. But someone might have used it for a smoker and can have a better idea.

My suggestion is, could lamp oil work better than Kero? It doesn't have as petrolly sutty smell when it burns like kero.

The plain lamp oil (if that's what it's called) , not the citrenella type.

Not sure who other than a camping store (where I get mine) would have it.

Cheers, Bugatti

I doubt if kero burns hot enough.... and the smell would permeate the fish.
