:o_0: how did it not sink in that weather!
westerlies arent that bad in flinders, but this is outside the heads and in gale force winds.
I don't know, but, aren't the seats in a tinnie sealed for buoyancy ??
Your "plastic fantastic" wouldn't sink, would it ??? :te:
Cheers Gra
Run of the mill tinnies barely float in good conditions without people in them, throw in storm conditions and they are bricks.
No where near enough flotation or in the right places to stay upright in bad or good conditions.

There could have been barrel busting up out the front of flinders and I still wouldn't have launched in my 7m hardtop in those conditions, wtf were they thinking :dn: . Thats without even considering the ban on fishing at the moment.

Looking very much like they are cactus. Just a complete waste of life.

Well that's one reason I bought it, supposedly unsinkable. But i really dont want to be testing that claim at all.

Is was savage tinnie, looked about 3.8 or so in length...
Apparently no life jackets or safety gear found on boat.

Apparentlt life jackets or safety gear found on boat.
Very stupid.

My old boat was a 4.2m Savage Kestral and i used to make sure everybody had their jackets on at all times, even if it was dead calm (its the law anyway). I guess just because they found life jackets on the boat doesnt mean they werent wearing any, they could have been spares i suppose, but it doesnt look good.

EDIT: A day later and still not found.

Hi all,
Just goes to show you can have all the laws and regulations that could be dreamed up, but you still can't stop stupidity. A bad look for the sport and it will make it that bit more difficult to get the fishing/boating ban lifted.
Cheers
Ango.

Two days of the Police chopper scouring the coastline and the police Bass Strait 24 cruising the bay.

I guess they’ll find them in a week once they fill with gas and start floating, assuming the gillas have left anything

Looks like they have pretty much called off the search.
