Idea for new fishing show
Ive been thinking about this latley and im curious to see if this could actually be a hit..
Take a few of the most popular fishing program hosts and take away there million dollar gadgets such as top of the range boat, fish finders, depth sounders, rods and reels. Now replace everything with what people fished with in the 50s.. how good would all these so called experts be without all the gadgets? Would they actually know where there targeted species will be and be able to catch them as easily as they do?
Reason why i think this is because growing up watching Malcolm Douglas on his out back adventures made me want to do what he did, now all programs say ya need this and that at a small price at only $70,000 for a 4x4, $50,000 trailer + another $100,000 on all other bits n pieces.. i know its all promoting but im keen to see if many of these experts can actually do the game fishing trip or travel through Australia without spending the $ on gadgets they say is needed and having success. Its a bit hard to explain what i mean, hope i worded it ok though..

Re: Idea for new fishing show
I think a much better show would be a show in which a couple of guys follow around popular fishing show hosts, and punch them every time they say 'great fun on light gear'.

Re: Idea for new fishing show
It's a good idea but fishing shows are almost entirely funded by product placement.
All your favorite youtubers stopped being interesting the moment they stopped being fisherman and started being salespeople.

OzfishTV used to use mainly entry level gear. I think they eventually got sucked into more and more product placement stuff though.

To be fair it's only Carl. Pink kmart combos are probably not quite enough handicap to level that particular playing field. Maybe wear a tutu as well next time.DougieK wrote: ↑Sat May 30, 2020 9:24 pmI think it was bigdan91 who i ran into at gunnamatta one night who's gf was using a little pink kmart combo. Re: Idea for new fishing show
Just thought of 1 person and thats the fella from river monsters. He uses traditional ways to catch his targeted species doesn't he? Yeah its all advertising and its actually made me think f that, if thats how much its gonna cost then ill just forget about it, think it was the great aussie door step where 2 guys drove up to the cape doing river crossings and extreme off roading with a boat on a trailer, 4 wheel motorbikes, camper trailer water and fuel all on 1 trailer. They say anyone can do it.. yeah maby if we all had a spare mill and a year off work. Another way of explaining my idea is make a show for the average joe something we can all do.

Re: Idea for new fishing show
well the other thing is fishing shows travel around and go out with local guides, they don't just head out into a new area by themselves and rely on just their own fishing knowledge. knowing the area your fishing is a big advantage.

Re: Idea for new fishing show
Honstly these days most if not all fishing is this or that, the only fishing person i watch is actualy a twitch streamer with only 2 sponsors and only them but what he runs is a special backpack at 4,229 australian and just got a boat sponsor for only 200 hours but honstly a good person to watch as he teaches and explains stuff properly.
Basicly what the bag is but normaly its a little gopro ripoff camera.
