Fishable campsites

As others have already suggested, the above would have to be a good choice. I have spent many happy holidays there. Just recently the whole valley was flooded when the mouth was blocked. It was opened artificially a few weeks back, but I believe the two camp grounds there, on either side of the river, are still closed as they were inundated for some time. They should be alright by July though. The bream fishing would probably be pretty good right now after being opened up.

What about blanket bay?
Haven’t been for 40 years but was good for a spear and crays back then.

Professional cray fisher said he gets them off Bear GullyKimtown wrote: ↑Tue Jun 16, 2020 2:53 pmBear Gully is pretty mediocre personally. Dived there a few times and didn’t find squat. The camp grounds are compact and crowded and there’s really not much to do other than to look out into the fish-less waters lol.Windknot wrote: ↑Tue Jun 16, 2020 2:29 pmhttps://www.parks.vic.gov.au/places-to- ... campground
Not free but only $13.70 per night. I've never been there but it looks as though it could be alright.
Mind you he's probably worse than average fisho's with their locations
We loved the octopus eating his catch as he'd give us the leftover tails

Re: Fishable campsites
Ahhh I should rephrase, it’s mediocre for me. I can only dive to like 4-5m absolute tops. I’m sure if you can get down to 8+ then there’d be some lurking.Texas wrote: ↑Wed Jun 17, 2020 12:00 amProfessional cray fisher said he gets them off Bear GullyKimtown wrote: ↑Tue Jun 16, 2020 2:53 pmBear Gully is pretty mediocre personally. Seems there aren't to many places you haven't been, maybe you should broaden your search area, cheers davo.
It's an exhilarating feeling catching a fish
But it's an even better feeling releasing them

Lol the only 2 places I’ve mentioned I’ve been, the glasshouse at lake tyres and bear gully in south Gippsland are over a pretty broad area I’d have thought?

Re: Fishable campsites
Hey guys,
A few posts above, someone has mentioned Aire Crossing Campground in the Otways.
That's my website, was just a quick page I threw up because it's a great spot and decent for fishing.
Just thought I'd let you know that I've changed the website, the above no longer exists anymore and to get to the exact same page about Aire Crossing on my new site, you can head over here instead: https://www.wayandfarer.com/guides/camp ... ampground/
Cheers, Guy

Re: Fishable campsites
Also saw that Davo mentioned Blanket Bay, which is a really decent campground down at Cape Otway but there was no website mentioned, so here's a page I wrote on Blanket Bay Campground, hopefully it's of use to some of you.. https://www.wayandfarer.com/guides/camp ... anket-bay/
If Blanket Bay is booked, then just near it, down the same dirt track as you turn off Lighthouse Road (the road between the Great Ocean Road and Cape Otway), then try Parker Hill Campground just above Parker Inlet: https://www.wayandfarer.com/guides/camp ... rker-hill/
Cheers guys!
