What's in your land based fresh and saltwater tackle bags?
Hi guys
I thought it may be interesting for members to share what gear they pack in their land-based freshwater and saltwater tackle bags.
Imagine if you had to have your tackle bags and other gear ready to go at a moment's notice, what would have in them?
Let's make separate lists (one for fresh and one for salt) and let's get specific... like
Rod capacities, lengths and numbers
Reel size
Line weights
Sizes and types of hooks
Types of floats
Leaders
Sinker weights and shapes
'go to' plastics, hard bodies, metals and other lures
Plus other gear like nets, pliers, scales, knives etc etc
Cheers

Easy; for my surf spin outing
Rod: Shimano Catana Light surf 10ft 6, 3 to 5kg
Reel: Shimano Sienna2500FE 20lb Viros NXT braid tied with GT knot to 50cm of 30lb mono with swivel clip
Leader: 50cm of 30lb mono tied using GTknot; with swivel clip
Lures: Halco Twisty 30gm, Tsunami Pro Slimwave 28gm, Kmart chrome slice 28gm
spare leaders already tied with swivel clips
knife, scissors, pliers, gloves, shopping bag to carry the catch (never used ), bottle of water in a pouch
rod holder on a sling, rag
maybe I'll catch a fish one day

Re: What's in your land based fresh and saltwater tackle bags?
I'm one of those people who has specific things for specific stuffs, lol. I have one reel for one rod for specific use and a tackle box for each too. So I can always just grab stuff I need without having to switch reels rods lures etc.
Not gonna list them all. Here's my most versatile and the go to items.
Freshwater and estuary:
Rod: Majorcraft Basspara 6ft6 two piece UL 3-6lb (thinking to upgrade this)
Reel: Daiwa Freams LT 2000 with 6lb Jbraid x8 and 4lb or 6lb fluorocarbon leader 2m long random brand.
Hardbodies: a box with about a dozen 2-3cm hardbodies for creek/river and 3-5cm hardbodies including spoons for lakes.
Plastics: zman grub 2 and 2.5in motor oil and strike tiger nymph are a must! Jig heads ranging 1/24 HWS to 1/8 size #2.
Salt:
Rod: Daiwa Black Label v2 6ft10 two piece 2-4kg.
Reel: Daiwa Caldia LT 2500 with 10lb Jbraid x8 grand and 10lb fluorocarbon leader 1.5m long, random brand.
Hardbodies: halco twisty 10gm and 15gm is a must and couple more in ne box
Plastics: zman slim swimz bad shad is a must, and gulp nemesis 4in nuclear chicken.
Other stuff:
Plier, braid scissor, bigger scissor to kill or cut fish throat or bait. A smal box with various sinkers, swivels and hooks if there's chance of bait fishing, bell and clip float, hook sharpener, water, a rag, plastic bag, box of various jig heads and clips.

Re: What's in your land based fresh and saltwater tackle bags?
when i used to fish landbased i had a small shoulder bag with some FC leader, some plastics and jigheads, few slugs and a pair of braid scissors.
all fish was catch and release.
was the most enjoyable sessions, rock up to spot start casting, and then just jump back in the car and go home.
Now it takes about half hour to get the boat ready, and almost 1 hour to clean and pack up FML!!!

Re: What's in your land based fresh and saltwater tackle bags?
Great idea for a post!
I'll share what is in my EGI Squid back, and the go-to gear I always have on hand.
Saltwater EGI Squid setup:
Rod: Daiwa Emeraldas V 2020 7'9 ML (#1.8-3.5 jig size)
Reel: Daiwa Emeraldas 19 3000 DH
Braid: 8LB Sunline
Leader:15LB Black Magic Fluro ~80cm or so.
Clip: Mustad Fastach Clip
Jigs: Sponsored by Yamashita and use thier jigs in size #3.0, ocassionally swap to #2.5
Bag:
I use a small Daiwa flap bag (which I water proofed) that holds my squid jig case, a few packs of clips, leader, pliers and scissors.
In my esky I have a pair of meat scissors which I clean the squid and water bottle.
I always carry my net, which is a telescopic 4M net with a fine net, this is perfect for lifting all species and even netting garfish.
Super light setup.

Re: What's in your land based fresh and saltwater tackle bags?
I've got a little bum bag thing I take when spinning for salmon.
It's got a small tackle tray with some spare lures, snaps etc, a spool of leader, pliers, snips and a bit of rope for stringing up any fish I catch.
Makes it very easy to stay mobile while looking for fish.

Re: What's in your land based fresh and saltwater tackle bags?
Spinning for Salmon I take a small backpack because I tend to wade a fair way into the water. I carry a half dozen lures, leader, scissors and a knife. I always have a towel and some ugg boots in the back of my Ute because my toes are usually ready to drop off from the cold. I absolutely love beach fishing in winter but that moment when the heater kicks in when you get the car going is one of joys of life.
