The Better Boating Fund

If you are wondering where your money for boating licences goes you can take a look here. https://engage.vic.gov.au/rec-boating-strategy
You can also fill out the survey at the bottom of it.
I would encourage you to do this.
The fund currently gets in approx $35 million each year. Some of this money is used to fund marine search and rescue volunteers. A very small amount.
Between direct funding, for running costs. (just under $2mil) and equipment grants MSAR sector gets approx $2.5mil. This is a very economic service for the Vic Government. This sector is run almost entirely by volunteers. Hence it doesn't cost much. However we often wait a few years for equipment as we can basically only apply for one grant each year.
One reason only a small amount is allocated to MSAR is that the government believes that boating people only want the money spent on facilities and have no interest in MSAR funding.
If you do the survey please put some comments in the comment section as to how you think the money should be spent.
There's nothing . . . absolutely nothing . . . half so much worth doing as simply messing around in boats.
