Waders Info Please

Post by denis barden » Thu Jan 30, 2020 5:56 am

Getting a bit older.Hard to get waders on and off.
Do you wear socks when waders on,bare feet or wrap feet in plastic bags -easier to get off ?
Do you put powder in them so feet slip in easy?
Ive made a boot juck out of wood ?
Any help appreciated
Cheers Denis

What kind of wader do you have? Those PVC waders with rubber/plastic gumboots can be hard to get in and out indeed.
The neoprene is more friendly.
I have "fly fishing" wader which I use in freshwater only, it has neoprene "socks" and wading boots separately. It's just like wearing everyday pants and boots. But more expensive.
And yes, I always put socks. Footy socks.

I always wear socks with my waders, Redington Sonic Pro & Compass waders with stocking feet coupled up with Korkers wading boots..
I never have a problem getting in or out of them, well not yet anyway.. Only thing I do is to make sure the wading boots are wet before putting them on, that way they slip on much easier..

cheers

Being part ape, I've only ever tried to wear pvc waders once, without trackie pants tucked into sox
I had no trouble getting them on and off, but, I purchased a 1/2 size bigger boots

Have you thought about wearing drypants with some cheap sneakers or boat shoes over the top of them?

I have done that with the Lovig ones, they tend to cling to you more and in colder water they are not as warm as the rubber ones. But yes if you have them they will do the trick

However if you are wading in mud your sneakers or what ever footwear can get stuck and come off.

Has anyone ever considered wearing a wet suit for wading rivers? I have one from my scuba days and have been thinking that it would probably work.
