gummy fishing for the first time

Post by ashhroyan » Wed Apr 09, 2014 8:51 pm

Hey guys I really want to get onto my first gummy (land based unfortunately)
was thinking of heading out this weekend and giving it a crack and hopefully after a few trips and a few lessons learnt I get to crack into one

any chance you experts would have any tips on bait berley location and rigs that should be used

I have heard cured eel being the key so might give that a crack

outfit will be a 8kg rod 4000 reel
20lb braid and unsure of leader

any advice would be great advice guys

cheers

Fresh Bait will help you catch more fish, I love using fresh squid hoods with a single 8'0 pinned through the top of the hood.

Not really bud...

They feed on the bottom, a lot of stuff washed into the bays would be bugs/insects which will sit on top of the water.

Freshwater shrimp may make their way to the bottom, but won't be big enough to offer a Gummy a meal.
