Hi 'SPF Chick'. There is a few different grades of billet alloy, i'm assuming this product is probably the 2024 grade (minimum). The following website can give you some good info on alloy grades used for certian equipment ...
http://www.kaiseraluminum.com/customers ... on-billet/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Might have to order myslef a pair , if they are. :D
Cheers , Rick.

I've been in touch with our manufacturer and they have confirmed the product is made of a "billet alloy", the grade is 6061 which is commonly used in Aerospace applications, Aircraft structures, Yacht building and Car parts.
Therefore they make a mighty fine pair of fishing pliers!
I've been hassling the SFP Chick cos I'd like to upgrade my pliers, but Noooooooooo, they're all for the customers!
Cheers,
Cam.

Re: Aircraft Grade Aluminium Fishing Pliers - Limited Quanti
6061 isnt really an aerospace alloy these days I dont think. Commercial aircraft are mostly 2000 or 7000 series alloy im pretty sure (correct me if im wrong)
6061 is however a structural alloy, and is regularly used for applications such as scaffolding and ladders, so plenty strong enough for pliers I reckon
6061-T6 is a pretty common alloy/temp for machining also, so I doubt that they would be making it out of straight billet. Billet comes in round "cylinders" and they would be far better off I think extruding 6061 flat "bars" at about 25mm x 10mm and then quenching it, to achieve t6, then fabricating the bars to make each half of the pliers via CNC, and bolting them together.
I'm really no expert in making pliers tho, I do however work in the aluminium industry.

That was enough for me! I received a pair yesterday and I am certainly happy with them. It cuts braid easily as well.Scraglor wrote:......................................................................................................................................
