Black Rock (BR)
Black Rock (BR)
Fished BR twice this week. Sunday and Tuesday.
Sunday: Caught bag limit of squid with some larger ones. Released the small ones. Any area with reefy bottom seems to hold squid. Polaroid glasses work well for seeing bottom. Water is /was clear though this will change if we get alot of rain. Ended up at Ricketts Point to see best salmon bust up for a while. Water oily calm. Pelican squadron in line abreast targeting salmon. Amazing. Caught 25 plus salmon on fly. Kept 3 released the rest. Ended up plastic fishing for pinkies. They were on the bite also. All undersize and released.
Tuesday: Squid harder to catch. But caught one at around 2Kg. Beast. 3 good ones and 3 small ones. No salmon bust ups until late in arvo off Ricketts. Only one small school. Kept 2 caught on fly. Sounded school of salmon on bottom. Caught a few with plastics but smaller than surface feeding school. All released. Pinkies were difficult and all small.
Its not easy being a fishing tragic. Cheers.

Re: Black Rock (BR)
Nice report.
I was also there on Sunday with the missus not Far from Ricketts catching pinkies.
Was going to check out what all the boats were doing but didn’t.
Found out later was the big bust up of sambos! Would have loved to have been there but there is always next time

I saw you working your fly. That bust up was insane, great fun.
Had the same trouble with pinkies. Caught plenty of great squid.
