Awesome fishing action at Black Rock Video

Post by thebigal_au » Tue Apr 02, 2019 6:45 pm

Thought I’d share my latest fishing video - https://youtu.be/Jh53YfaS9lw

I team up with Rob Kriz from Robs fishing adventures and we have an amazing fishing session on Port Phillip bay around Black Rock. We launch from Altona in some choppy conditions and eventually anchor in Black Rock after coming across a nice school in the Simrad sounder. Thankfully the wind and swell calms down and the fishing action is frantic as we catch heaps of good size pinkies, snook, whiting, and then finally into a school of big salmon. There's no better way to break the new Savage Gear 1DFR rods.

Gear used Savage Gear 1DFR 3-5k inshore rod, Stealth 2000, 9.3 Adrenaline braid, Fat Curl tail soft plastics in motor oil which was a deadly combination for the day.

If you enjoy the video then please sub the channel.

Great video Al, i have subscribed.

I think you have inspired me for my next trip out next Monday hopefully (although the early forecast isnt looking too good). I have never really had much luck with soft plastics, but having said that i also haven't really used them from the boat. Mostly just shore based.

That's awesome to hear, thanks for the positive comments. The fishing is amazing at the moment. So much active pinkies, squid, flathead and salmon. Good luck out there and thank you for subscribing to the channel

You are not wrong, we had a great session on Monday morning landing 27 squid around Point Cook and Willy.

So i followed up on this post yesterday and headed down to Ricketts Point armed with a few packs of Berkley Gulps and had a crack at some Pinkies.

I pretty much followed Al's lead with a bait rod in the water while i flicked around some plastic. My gear wasnt ideal, i was using my usual 5 - 8kg bait rods and i wasnt able to land anything bigger than 6 inches or so but it definitely gave me enough incentive to get myself setup properly and head back down for another attempt ASAP.

For what its worth, we later cleaned up on Flatties out deep by jigging with the same plastics we had tried earlier.

3 inch gulps mate on a 1/6th or 1/4oz jighead size 1 hook if fishing in 7mt or so and you should get them.
