Security guards and fishing

Post by mazman » Tue May 19, 2020 11:24 am

Hey guys,

Had a really weird start to my post covid fishing campaign last week, this is the raw footage with subtitles and some beeps added. Let me know what you think of the situation.

Pretty sure those signs say “no fishing off the pontoons” or something, your always up there and I don’t recall seeing him in any of your other vids so I don’t think it’s his job, probably just a disgruntled fella with nothing else to do. Good on you for standing your ground though.

seems to always be some sort of problem with fisherman there always.
it dies down and fishing is all good, then suddenly again something like this happens.
people in boats were there on the weekend, i wonder if they had the same problem?

i would send the footage to the authorities of him trying to swamp you.

i see (edit ) your other mate was halfway down the river by the time you finished :lo: ....

Are your ears painted on :rf: gold!!!!!

that guys works at the green shed in the marina, they have their work boats parked there on the side .
have a feeling some guys may have left fishing lines and stuff on the props of those boats for them to get so defensive.

Sad to see Alex, not a good thing to have to go through. And yes, I agree , , , , what a tool. There are better ways to get his message across than being antagonistic, swearing and the "swap you" manure.

I'd say, you'd check what the "No Fishing" entails and see if you were wrongfully moved on (also if he even has the authority to do so). And being victimised too.

I'd do as the lads say, report him to the Authorities AND to whom ever manages the Marina.

As far as I am aware there is no legal reason why you cannot fish there.

Call the police.

Oh dear.
Yeah maybe get to the details in black and white whether it is allowed to fish there on kayak or not. Something to back you up in writing.
He didn't have to swear nor the manoeuvre. If it was me on my old yak, I would've flipped and lost me gear and stuff.

Reminds me of the elitist flogs at Blairgowrie pier who put up signage that there is no fishing on the LHS due to a marine park. Not sure if the sign is still there but have had numerous encounters with them over the years.

Think you handled the situation well, given the circumstances. I would have been tempted to give ol’ mate a couple of new facial piercings.

I'm no historian, but I'm fairly certain this is how the French Revolution started.....time to eat the rich!
