Hey guys, looking at heading out one day in the next week to hop on the band wagon and see if I can get my hands on a kingfish in the docklands area. Just a few obvious questions like what pontoons have worked best, do you cast towards structure etc and if its best to use bait or lures? I've heard people saying unweighted squid or a fresh fillet under a float have worked, but then again all the videos online have looked like lures have been the key :^) any help would be greeeeatly appreciated

I've seen some people using metal slugs. I've yet to try them though :)

Dougie from here on the forum has caught them on fresh squid bait under a large bobby float in Portland. I don't see why his technique would not work in the Yarra,

Worth a go (if you can catch a mullet! Good luck with that ...) But really, the biggest problem in the Docklands isn't really the fishing challenge - it's the parking.

The area in front of Etihad stadium. From the library to central pier. Thats where they have been showing up. Mornings better than afternoon. They just cruise around though, keep moving and look for them

I threw out a live taylor on Monday night in the area that the father and son caught one during the day but didn't have any luck. I worked the docklands with Nomad stick baits as the sun was going down and then sat with heavy burly after dark but the taylor got to swim off after a couple of hours. Good luck!!

Will kingfish bite at night? I don't know much about them at all, really.
