Docklands Report

Post by croe04 » Sun May 05, 2019 8:35 pm

Headed up to docklands with a mate today from 3:45 (high tide) to 6:30
As soon as I dropped my bait in I was getting a few bites but no hook ups. Put some pro-cure scent on and instantly it started to get hammered, but no hook ups until about 20 minutes in, producing my first trevally. Kept getting my bait stolen, so i decided to switch to a different rig with a smaller hook, and about 45 minutes later hooked up to a tiny pinky, who put up a surprisingly strong and fun fight on my light tackle. Fishing became slow after the sun set, and the bites I was constantly getting came to a halt. Still pretty happy as this is the first saltwater success i've had in a long time, though I hope to get something bigger next time i'm out there.

Trevally was caught on a single-hooked paternoster rig with a size 1 baitholder on it , and the micropinky was caught on a size 4 suicide hook on a running sinker rig. Both were caught on chicken breast slices with pro-cure on them.

Nice report and a nice session, kept you on your toes.

Congrats croe on popping the Trevally Cherry. As far as the Pinkies, they do make good account of themselves. Not sure about there in Vicland, but here in South Oz, we have a simple rule , , , , once the sun goes down the small Pinkies slow but the bigger ones start , , , , but the bigger ones are more a wait, rather than constant bites.

Well done, nice to see you got some confidence back.

Cheers, Bug

Well done.
Burley hard there and the breams will come to play. Silver trevally comes in and go often this time of the year. Occasionally salmon and tailor too.
