hey all

fished docklands solo yesterday. tried with plastics for no dice, got bored and switched to very lightly weighted bread on a size 2 hook, got a few average bream and a decent trev that went 25cm fishing pylons and other structure.

i'm still keen to catch some bream/pinkies on plastics/hardbodies in the area, anyone got any tips on what to use and how to fish it? didn't get a sniff on plastics but got consistent bites as soon as I switched to bread. didn't help that i forgot my polarised sunnies and the water clarity was terrible.

hoping to get onto some fish soon, i might head back this week and try again

Personally I find Docklands bream is hard to catch on lures.
Yarra is easier and only mins walk away. But gotta have good clarity.

they are incredibly finicky. i might try what master said and grab some hidden weight jig heads or try something like cranka crabs.
i also wish the pinkies would show up in the big way that they did back in mid 2018, catching them was a breeze.

Yeah catching pinkie on a lure is much easier than Docklands bream. Pinkies everywhere atm. Need a bit of clarity in Docklands for them to come usually. Clear water means more saltwater from the tide, brings the pinkie mullet etc to Docklands.
Cranka crab is great, expensive though.

If you think about it, most of those bream have probably been caught several times before and have seen just about every placcy available. Lol. It would certainly make it challenging for ya!

They have probably seen every brand of bread before too

Haven't had much luck with them in the warmer months on lures, but when it gets colder, metal blades work really well. Sink to the bottom + long slow lifts. Keep moving around until you find one. You'll lift into a hookup, no skill required. Blades are also dirt cheap on eBay and they work as well as the expensive blades
