3030 fishing yarra pontoon trick
Had 1/2 hr before mrs finished work, luckily her workplace isn't too far from yarra. Parked the car and went to a pontoon.
Running out tide was a bit strong, 1/28 jig head wasn't heavy enough to get to the bottom, though the baby bream weren't too fussy and hit the 2in zman grub bloodworm left right center, none landed, either they bit the tail and no hookup or spat the hook after hooked. Changed to 1/20.
5 mins before I had to go back, I thought of one last cast.
Put the plastic next to the floating pontoon up current, picked up the slack, let it sink for 2-3 sec with tight line, it got under the pontoon, did one twitch and bang! This 30cm EP hit it.
30cm EP in 30 mins of fishing. Not a bad trick to use the current.

I got a bit late to her workplace and she had to wait for me for about 15 mins. Coz I caught that EP, took photos, etc. Lol.

Great stuff Seb!
Nice way to spend a spare 30 minutes waiting for the missus.
Nice fish mate.
Cheers

Great report Sebb, these suckers seem to have become quite common in the Yarra estuary. Interesting, given the lack of bankside snags and cover in the Yarra compared to the east and west Victorian rivers they’re found in.

Yup, more and more caught around metro.
Maybe something to do with EP stocking in the Nong few years ago.

I remember as a kid fishing around Melbourne and Victoria and nobody ever mentioned EPs, at least that’s how I remember it anyway. These sneaky little sessions you’re getting in are going well.

The background definitely gives away where it is. Reports of people catching EP and bream throughout, so definitely not just around there, they could be anywhere from there all the way to warmies.
