Nong bream

Post by Sebb » Tue Dec 26, 2023 4:37 pm

Been a while since I fished the Nong. Haven't fished there since I started BFS, right before covid I think. Was into trout fishing and the bream fishing was on pause. That's until today!

I snagged this solid healthy specimen of southern black bream. More specifically, Nong's bream!
Not big at 27.5cm, but fish is a fish.
Those that have tried, you'd know how hard Nong bream can be to catch on lures.

The blue infeet Z rod was awesome to use to fight the bream, the Abu BF8 felt like overkill (usually I use the BF8 for bass and salt). Varivas braid and 4lb fluorocarbon leader were doing fine. It rubbed me on the rocks but held well. 1/16 jighead and small bug looking plastics were getting the bites.

Great effort Seb. Love my Infeet Z and yes, it isn't easy to catch bream there most times on lures

Used to love fishing the Nong around the Canning St bridge. Might have to give it another go soon if I can make the time for the right tide.
