Landbased fishing North Wharfe - Not for long :(

Post by vxcalais » Fri Apr 26, 2013 9:43 pm

Speaking to some of the construction guys, the works have already reached up to the edge of the gravel car park at the end of the North Wharfe road where many people fish. Seems like they are building up for the Tram line that is going to run all the way up to the end. Soon access will be blocked off. Once that is done, the sheds etc are going for the new development etc. Dunno where all the rowers and Shipyards will move off to. But its a great spot as easy / free to park, toilet facilities, security and great FISHING most importantly. Will miss it.

Docklands used to be great too , could pull the car up right next to the water on the docks, used to be great fishing there. Nowerdays it's all resturants and stuff , people everyhwhere etc, they killed the 'good' fishing in docklands with all the buildup imo. Typical of the Melbourne government (vic in general), they'll sell anything for a buck $ .
And they think that ruining all these good landbased 'saltwater' areas is fine , cos' we'll make up for it by topping a few 'freshwater' lakes with stocked trout . :(
The urban growth around Melbourne cbd in paticular is out of control these days, there won't be many good landbased spots left at all after a while, they are already being ruined or disapearing alltogether.
I can't wait to get out of Victoria , go north , it's coming soon . Enough said ! .

Freshwater or migration seems only option. Piers as u said is too competative. Williamstown has parking restrictions till 11.30 each day rediculous.
