Spent a couple hours at Coburg Lake on Saturday, not a bite. Spent a couple hours at Edwardes Lake on Sunday, girlfriend caught her first carp. Great way to spend a sunny arvo and hopefully get her out for more trips...the more often she joins me, the more often I can go!

Has it been decided what we will do with the catch?

If anyone on here fishes saltwater, carp fillets make for excellent bait.
x2, and great yabby bait as well.

Hi guys,

I will give the council a ring next week and see if they can make sure their bins get emptied on the Monday after the cull. Or I might see if they can drop a larger bin or something down there for us. However I don't really know if they want to take responsibility for dumping them carp. I will get back re this, but the info will be posted on the carp cull thread.

cheers
Amanda

You guys ever get carp on lures? I'm probably going to tag along on the 13th but i'm not really equipped for bait and find it kind of dull. If so what kind of lure and what technique?

I have caught a couple carp on lures but they have been 'chance' catches. Some people who target carp on lures will use small soft plastics. You really have to get the plastic to 'sit' in their face I think. Others use small surface lures. It is all about imitating small bugs / insects that they are feeding on. If the carp are not visible feeding on the surface then you may have trouble targeting them!
