Mystery fish at the warmies - solved

Post by smokin_reels » Fri Oct 25, 2019 2:07 pm

I had a run in with the mystery fish that has plagued reports lately.
a nice big stingray.

A mate and I were soaking baits and for the life of us couldn't loose a pillie.
Not whole, not cut. No touches on squid. We caught some micro bream on chicken.

in an effort to up size the bream more than anything else, i foraged a crab and in she went.
Hardly had it hit the bottom when the line absolutely sizzled off.
My mate who is realtively new to fishing enjoye d a 30 min struggle with the beast.
:rf:

We fished till about 10 for no touches on anything else.
All store bought bait though, need to go get myself some fresh bait. Was a nice break from the lure work. :wt:
There is always more to learn , fish to catch , places to see and friends to make.

Hi Mate,

I was the original post of unknown monster fish.
I believe I have hooked it or similar twice now in a year.
I actually seen a stingray near the boat ramp, on the opposite side rockwall two weeks ago, right at the edge, he was at least 4' across and 7 'long, so would obviously pull like a train.

Scozzie, from what I understand about who discovers something first, and as you did discover this "monster" first, I think you get "Naming Rights" of this ray.

Any idea what you are going to call the Ray?
