I just had mine, cooked in batter. Two dipping sauce. Sweet and sour and Balinese sambal.
Scrumptious!
Most important, Mrs is happy!

Hi Anth, if you are anywhere near altona, the beach access ramp at the end of Miller’s Road is the easiest launch I have used - it’s concrete almost all the way to the water, you can usually park right in front of the rampSinsemilla wrote: ↑Thu Mar 19, 2020 12:35 amCheers Seb. Was more looking for where i could park and don't have to drag the yak a long way. Have you ever fished around all the moorings at St kilda?Seb85 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 18, 2020 11:02 pmCampbell's cove beach.Sinsemilla wrote: ↑Wed Mar 18, 2020 10:51 pmNice work Seb. What area do you launch from? I just bought a yak and wouldn't mind giving it a go in the salt on a nice calm day.
Cheers, Anth
I fish common places nowadays, especially on a yak. No secret.
There's been good captures of flathead from Altona to Werribee.
Though places can determine the species, to me, it's more of the technique etc than the place. Even two persons fishing next to each other at the same spot and time may have different results. Like my mate there who tried with 1/32 jig head and 2" grub, and failed. He's onto them straight after he changed to 1/8 and 4" plastic.
If you're new on a yak and fishing the bay, choose a low wind day, offshore is ideal. E.g. Altona is good and safe to fish on Northwest wind.
If you could, I suggest fish with an experienced mate on your first time on the yak.

Cooked the flathead yesterday. Beer batter flathead tail and chips, onion rings, coleslaw, homemade aioli. Mrs is happy. Means I gained a credit and she'll let me go fishing more often
