Sun bathing in Altona, aka slow fishing

Post by Sebb » Thu Oct 29, 2020 1:15 pm

Out again on the yak this morning, checked the wind forecast yesterday and looked good, tied some flash on 5/0 hook, then packed pilchard and squid bait.

The fishing was slow. So just a quick report, nothing but small bites, fished 6am-12:30pm. 1x eagle ray, 2x flathead (one undersized and one just legal), lost one big flathead. And that's it. Was a nice morning til the east wind came, chopped up the water surface.
Big arches shown but they weren't biting.

Hope others here got better luck today.

Looks like it was a relaxing morning!
I like the pic with the feet up 😃
At least you got a flattie.
Cheers 👍🏻

I was meant to go out yesterday morning but got asked to work at the last minute. I have to take all the shifts i can get at the moment.

I chose not to push it back to today because the weather forecast was much worse than it has turned out to be. Fish Radar was predicting almost 1.5m waves by around 1pm.. the Wyndham Harbour webcam would suggest their prediction turned out to be way off.

I'm overdue for squid fishing, might head there when we get offshore wind.
How was the water there bowl? Not too dirty?
Altona was a bit murky.

Was murky...I drifted the other day n couldn't get one.
So I burlyed like I would for kgw and cast a jig around for squid.

Hopefully it has cleared up by next week. My next day on the water will hopefully be next Thursday.

If it's murky on Altona side, I'd head over to sandy black rock way ...
Lots of East wind lately

Unfortunately that option is outside of my 25km limit. Unless they change it.
