Wyndham rockwall 26/9/2021

Post by Sebb » Sun Sep 26, 2021 10:28 am

With 10km and 4 hrs allowance, I get to travel to Wyndham rockwall, the closest to PPB.
Not much planning or preparation, just wanted to get out there.
Checked the weather, messaged few mates, and off we went to Wyndham rockwall this morning 6am to catch the sunrise and high tide. Was 6°C morning.
A mate fished there couple days ago and said there was nothing, nobody caught anything.

Time fished: 6am-8am
Peak high tide: 6:26am
Moon: 74% full set 8:43am
Sun: first light 5:36am, rise 6:03am
Wind: WSW 5-10kmh
Barometer: 1026 slowly increased to 1028
Rod reel: 2-4kg, 2500 reel, 10lb braid, 2m of 10lb fluorocarbon leader.
Lure/bait: we used various plastics with 1/8 and 1/6 jig head, zman slim swimz, diezel minnow, berkley gulp shad. One mate used chicken on 1/0 hook.

Few people fished there.
I caught a taylor on diezel minnow motor oil, and saw a kid hooked onto something that looked like a pike and got off. And that's about it.
Didn't hear any bells from those other people fishing either. Very quiet.

I didn't expect to get a taylor, didn't expect to catch anything to be honest. So overall, it was nice just to be out on such a nice day and caught a taylor on top of that.
Didn't measure exactly, measured by hand, roughly around 25-27cm.

Not a bad tailor Seb.
I haven’t caught one of them for awhile.
Well done.
Cheers 👍🏻

Yeah was a nice morning. Especially after being locked for so long. I can't remember when was the last time I had to wake up early to go fishing.

Kettle was boiling water before sun was up, brewing tea/coffee. The first light during the drive. Definitely adding to the experience.

There are some in PPB definitely, but not a common catch.
Definitely a lot more towards east Gippsland area.

I bet it felt great to get out there and suck some of that fresh sea air into the lungs Sebb.. the fishing may have been on the quiet side but still nice to be out & about. Nice Tailor too, well done..

Good to hear they're still around.

Definitely.
The weather is getting warmer too, more sun during the day. Definitely much better to be able to get out compared to gloomy cold winter lockdown.
