Salmon On The Yak
Went out on the yak chasing some salmon. Headed out as the sun was setting.
Set up my drift with a 1-3kg rod loaded with 4lb braid, I like to fish light. Left my sounder at home so was flying a little blind. I began the drift with a berkley shad and sure enough within 15m of my drift I got hit.
Turns out the school of salmon was under me and didn't bust up at all. Ended with about 10 in about an hour, between 28 and 35cm. Not the biggest but great fun on the light gear. Lost heaps more though.
Stayed after dark for a little while longer and landed around 4 flatties and then pulled the pin.
I actually found a recipe that I really enjoyed for the salmon:
- batter: flour, soda water, salt, garlic, powder, Thai spices, chilli powder
- sprinkle with lemon
- enjoy

Excellent work there mate, especially for a short session, good looking salmons and flatheads. Enjoy!

Have to agree with the others, top effort in a short time, cheers davo
It's an exhilarating feeling catching a fish
But it's an even better feeling releasing them

Nice effort mate. Those Salmon are also perfect bait size. Cutlet form works great with those..
