hi guys just wanting some advice because me and my dad are going kayaking down kananook creek any advice for lures for bream

This creek can be tricky to hold ground when the tide is going out. The section past the mile bridge is deeper but be careful where you choose to turn around. Try to fish in a more open water otherwise you will end up drifting into the over hanging branches. There have been mass fish kills in the past and some the bream floated to the top were nudging the kilo mark.

I fish the creek almost every week on my kayak and have had many good trips, I find the lead up to the high tide to be the best time to fish and in the summer time you will generally only catch decent bream in low light periods, I only fish in the creek using bait as where I fish, the water clarity is not great. The best baits I have found are worms, raw chicken or small shrimp. The species you can catch include as mentioned bream as well as eels, mullet, toadfish, juvenile salmon and flounder do live in there although I have not caught one. I have caught bream up to 43cm and mullet up to 40cm but the large mullet are only caught in winter. The bream in the photo went 39cm and was caught landbased. It took me a while to figger this creek out but if you are persistent the rewards are there, hope this helps and don’t hesitate to ask any further questions.

Do you know how deep the water is?

I have a little hook 2 on the kayak and the deepest it has displayed is just 6ft.

Never fished there before. But if it's clear'ish, sx40 slow roll and pause should work in 6ft water. Cranka crab always work but casting it to structures with light line is an expensive fishing.

I've had success on Dr Minnows. Motor Oil grubs, too. I've been meaning to put more time into experimenting with smaller plastics, though.

Kayaking it is a pain. But the usual bream lures like sx40s or similar work plenty good
