Was still fenced off a week ago. The length is still almost all there, just not the end bit and you cant' cast straight out.

Tales of the pier's demise were greatly exaggerated. There was a small section -- admittedly one useful for lobbing baits out towards an artificial reef -- on the end that sat at a 90 degree angle to the rest of the pier. That's done. The bulk of the pier is still there. There's a fence at the end, and one of the lower platforms (southern side) is fenced off. Some people climb around said fence so they can still cast out towards the reef. I'm assuming the fence is there so Parks Vic or whoever can wash their hands of the situation if someone goes in the drink.
