Hastings - first time out

Post by Beef_Jerky72 » Sun Apr 22, 2012 8:44 pm

Hi all.

I heard last weekend that the whiting were going off in westernport. so finally took the family (Mrs & 3 kids) & boat down to Hastings and launched there around 1.30pm on saturday. High tide was around 1.45 and we fished in two different spots outside the mouth of the hastings channel. In all we caught about 10 Flathead - (of which 5 were undersize and the others all between 28cm & 33cm being the biggest) & 1 pinkie in about first two hours, then not much action after that.

Unfortunately we didnt get any whiting, but I spoke to a couple of old farts at the ramp afterwards and they said i needed to go out further accros to the sand banks.

It is a great facility down there and so much better than laundching from tooradin & warneet which i usually go.

Trying to go and head down again on Anzac day if weather permits.
