Shoreham

Post by Fredfillis » Thu Mar 05, 2015 10:24 pm

Thinking of having a go off the beach down at Shoreham over the weekend, maybe get a few whiting (anything but toadies would be good ;).

On google maps I can see a ton of cars parked there, maybe surfers. Is it worth the effort? Is a 50Km trip so don't want to waste the few hours I have to wet a line.

Nothing is certain in fishing I have towed my 2.5 ton boat 2 hrs for 1 small gummy and to be ridiculed by 2 forum members but you know what it was a great day out we still talk about it you don't have to catch a bag to have a great day out

It is whiting season so why not give it a crack.....nothing is guaranteed in fishing and western port is the port for toadies!

i have personally found that fishing at night has been better for the KGW, you also get nowhere near as many toadies

Thanks all.

More worried about possibly sharing the beach with 100 surfers than bagging a few toadies. Night is not really an option yet, will have my 10yo daughter with me. Will certainly be having a go somewhere!

Did go out today, took the daughter down to Stony Point off the pier for a couple of hours, nabbed a couple of leatherjackets. The girl was stoked to finally get something to take home for dinner. Spent the entire two hours baiting hooks. LJ's or toadies, scoffed all the squid I had brought.

Scarfed down a servo pie then off to Shoreham about an hour before high tide. Crawling with surfers and weed. One cast and back in the car to Balnarring. Plenty of weed there too but better than Shoreham, nothing much happening for an hour or so then the girl got a KWG, 30cm and about an hour later we scored another about 32cm. Using Gulp turtleback and sandworms. Not enough action or experience to know if they made a difference. Toadies liked them too.

Girl was very happy to finally have a fish dinner she caught herself! Not too many fish but a great day out 8-)
