bit more involved than that unfortunately hahahaKadmium wrote:It helps when you hold the fish 4cm from the lense and stand a meter back :rofl:Redhunter wrote:That's a great pic then mate, cos I could have sworn it was much bigger. Mid-high 80's I was guessing. Just goes to show that photos can be deceiving 'ey! (You must have little hands...or long arms) :rofl:purple5ive wrote:I would like to say 70cm lol but only measured 69.
Not sure how heavy though.
What would a fish like this weigh?
At 69cms I'd be thinking high 3's- low 4's kgs. Great effort on such light tackle man. Keep up the good work.
if you have a camera phone then your heading the right way.
however with a DSLR the option are endless, specially if you have a constant aperture lense.

Great fish mate, congrats.purple5ive wrote:Cheers fellas.
I got dad to get the fish out the freezer and weigh it. He said 5.1kg. So ill go with that.
Next time maybe ill.land that 80cm fish and make it look like a meter plus
I think you should go with this calculator:
http://fishingspotx.co.nz/snapper-weight-calculator/
It says 6.23kg for 69cm
Edit: well the data is possibly based on fork length so 5kg sounds more likely.

cracking fish mate! All these reports on the snapper are making me wish we opted for Mornington deep on Saturday rather than whiting at the spit!
I caught a 76cm last season and that weighed 4.5kg if thats any sort of a guide for you!

Lol I never target pinkies with anything under 12 lb have had larger fish show up in nursery grounds on a few occasions. But I mostly start with 20lb. and up to 60lb in structure.
