Mt Martha Squid Report 12/12

Post by wishtofish » Sat Dec 12, 2020 8:42 pm

First of all, WE GOT ONTO SOME SQUID!
Fished Mt Martha for around an hour from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm, landing 2 medium size squid.
And Fished the same area from around 4 pm to 6 pm and landed 2 smaller squids.
All squid were caught on the outgoing tide, there was no wind and the water was the clearest I've ever seen, I've heard they can be finicky during these conditions and the new clear body jigs did just perfect in those conditions and were able to land a couple, was also a bright sunny day.
I couldn't help myself from getting in the water and having a swim while these conditions were perfect. :bn:

These were the jigs that did the damage on these beautiful squid. The coloured one with the flasher catching 3, while the sephia 14t caught one.

Good effort mate, nothing better than catching your own food. Have to learn how to catch potatoes now, some chips would’ve been perfect with that.

Dawn or dusk will produce more consistently for you on that ledge. Also if you have a heavier rod and the wind is any good, ti's worth whacking the first little one out under a balloon in the summer months, especially if you're fishing in the morning.

I thought the wind too strong and you stay within and went upstream of Werribee River? 😅 or maybe I hear wrongly...
