Mornington pier
I’m heading down to Mornington tommorow any advice? I have squid and silver fish I wouldn’t mind catching some pinkies or whiting but if worst comes to worst I’llcatch some gars but I would prefer snapper or whiting

Re: Mornington pier
My favourite is just after the rocks at the start of the pier on the left. And the little wooden jetty near the boats facing the boat ramp. Low north wind tomorrow, maybe best to focus on squid and whiting.

Re: Mornington pier
Ah okay.
Fish just after the rocks on the left then, for squid and whiting, snaggy though.
Might already a bit too cold for snapper, but you never know, I always have one heavy gear with big bait and big hook out in the water.
There could be salmon around, have metal slug ready too.

Re: Mornington pier
Total for yesterday was 4 23cms salmon I kept two for bait and threw the other two back I caught 3 squid one ambitious enough to take a jig that was littereally bigger then itself the other two where good size and I kept them for bait. Using some garfish I caught at frankston I caught my first ever landbased snapper at 43 cms on a patternoster rig and on my four foot kids rod from when I was seven that I was using to try and catch little pinkies. It nearly stole the whole thing I managed to just grab it and after a 5 min fight got him in the net. Good feed their for my grandad and a great day to be out on the water
