Season Opener

Post by purple5ive » Sun Sep 29, 2019 7:37 pm

Guys,
over the weekend i had a chance to head out to PPB to chase some squid and also see if if i could find the salmon once again.
i wasn't disappointed, as my first cast of the day landed this beautiful squid measuring a respectable 37cm hood on a R08 yamashita 3.5
FB_IMG_1569748624635.jpg

got into a few more with a total tally of 12 squid around the 20-25cm mark between 3 people with the bite shutting down after a 30 min window.

we then decided to see if we could find the salmon and after about 30 mins of looking i found them on the sidescan sitting nice and deep.
3lb leaders came out once again, but this time the fish got its revenge, after landing a few on 3lb one of the fish wrapped me around the trolling motor resulting in a few meters of braid and leader disappearing instantly, out came the 4lb leader and game on again..
i put plenty of pressure on them this time to see how far i can push these light leaders, and after the first fish the leader was twisted so much that it looked like a birds nest on an overhead game reel.
still great fun, landing about 15 fish and leaving them biting as i had a Function to attend later on in the day..
No pics of the salmon I've posted enough of them here now I think...
Tight lines everyone and hope you got into some good fish as well.

Cheers
