That's a horse of a thing Dougie! Great effort.
Is the flesh on those larger models slightly tough & rubbery compared to smaller squid, or no real difference? I've never caught them that big myself, so no idea.
Cheers

Texture probably doesn’t matter that much if all you’re doing is wearing it as a hood and burning crosses on your black neighbours lawn

Or just chasing guys who take pictures with straight arms.

I'm fishing silver whiting under a float on a 50lb 11ft assassin stickbaiting rod with an expo 5500h and 50lb tasline.

I've got no idea about flesh, these ones are vac sealed, deepfrozen and baited up for kings down the line a bit.

I'll be honest with you, since they banned a bunch of netting practices both the squid and the salmon have been getting bigger. When I first started saltwater fishing again in 2011 a 50cm salmon was hard to come by and a 40cm squid was like a holy grail. Now there seems to be reports of 65+ salmon and 40+ squid almost every day.

I was chatting to a guy at Clifton Springs (one of those old blokes who've been fishing the area since they were a kid) and he reckons the number of squid and squid egg sacks around at the moment is unlike anything he's seen before.

He thinks (and keep in mind this is just the view of an old bloke at the boat ramp - nothing scientific) that the seine nets dragging along the bottom as they tightened them up would knock off or damage the egg clusters. This is the first year there hasn't been any netting in Corio Bay, and the squid appear to have really taken off in the area.

Better take the heavy gear next time in case you hook a 50cm+
