Port Philip Bay Arrow Madness

Guys,
This session will probably be etched in my mind as one of the craziest squidding session ive had so far, not in terms of size but sheer craziness, aggressiveness and numbers landed.
we hit up Port Philip bay South for a day of squid fishing and we weren't disappointed one bit.
we stumbled across a school of arrow squid, and pretty much all hell broke loose after that.
as you guys already know, arrow squid are know for their aggressive behaviour, and if you didnt happen to know that, then this session was sure to change your mind.
the squid were hitting jigs on the top of the water column, the speed with which they were attacking the jigs were phenomenal, extremely fast paced!!!
they were even trying to eat their own mates that were hooked on the jigs, with 4 and 5 followign the hooked squid and trying to have a go at the one that was hooked.
anyway, we landed over 50 squid between 3 of us on the boat, kept our bag and released the rest we caught..
the Yamashita Feeling shaft got a good workout, and any jig that went in got hammered!!!
the action was so crazy, i decided to turn on the gopro and start filming, luckily i managed some footage before the camera, the boat, myself and most of my clothes got covered in Ink

cheers

The only problem with sessions like that is that you hit your bag limit too fast. Looks like a lot of fun.

I am totally hooked on squid fishing. I love everything about it.. from wasting money on jigs to cooking and eating them. And you even get bait for other fish if you dont eat the tentacles.

As for the ink, i think i have gave this tip before but nothing beats Chux Magic Eraser for cleaning those ink stains off the fibreglass. I dont know how they work, but they do. And they are pretty cheap. $4 for a bag of 8 pads if i remember and i can usually clean the whole boat with 1 or 2 pads depending on how bad it gets inked.

Cheers lads.
The squid were absolutely in kamakazi mode, they were super aggressive. As you can see in the video, just drop the jig and whamo... I was so taken back by the speed at which they hit the jig. Very different to calamari who atkeast inspect the jig most times and then take it, or they tentatively approach and then grab.
These guys just came like rockets and just smashed the jig!!!
I wish I had my underwater housing for the gopro, would have made for some sickkk footage I recon..

I was out again today, I was there only one fishing for squid and got around 8 arrows this morning.
They weren't as spastic as the last outing that's for sure.
Cheers

How do arrows taste compared to cala? And are they any better bait wise?
