Have you caught them before?

The tentacles have hooks on them unlike Calamari, so yes you need to watch out for the tentacles of Arrow squid.

Yeah tentacle hooks and if you grab them like a squid behind the head they will grab you turn back on themselves and try and bite you. As I said nasty little critters.

Kad has caught them before.

No worries, thanks ducky.

A lot of ppl don't know about the hooks and get caught in a very horrible and painful situation, with the arrows.
They are one of the most aggressive squid and fun to catch, just have to be careful.

good work dougie.
you learn something everyday, I didn't know arrows had hooks in tentacles, I know they can try and bite, but if I did catch one prior to this post I most certainly would have not been careful enough

cheers

Well done Dougie! One of those special kinda trips that sticks in the memory bank for some time. A great feed along with some awesome baits for those ledges you love to fish so much.
Arrow squid are much more aggressive than calas, and will do their best to try bite you with their beak when you try grab them. Dunno if anyone else has the same opinion, but calas are much better for the table imo. And I've also found that arrows can be full of worms, whereas I've never found this with calas.
