well story goes 2nd cast try to bang it out far and hits the rod tip and wack rod ends up in 3 pieces. Cheers Matari
That to me sounds like user error!!
casting extra weight than whats been recommended has to be done with a bit more caution.
most certainly not banging out a cast with a chin weight on it.
i dont even know how you managed to get the chin weight to hit the rod tip.

Thanks AE092 :notworthy: , the Chinnys are on my "to buy and try list" now.

Cheers, Bugz
No problem Bugz.

I find they work really well on Western Port when chasing big squid out deeper, >6m with the tide running. I normally use 3.5-4.0 jigs and even then the smaller squid (hood length 20cm ish) will still take a fast sinking jig.

Take him out on a squid hunt and you’ll soon find out how and why it broke. Maybe he’ll listen to you, because he doesn’t listen to me.

hahaha this sounds very much like me and my dad!!
sometimes unfortunately people learn the hard way, and in this case looks like no fishing for junior for a while till he saves up for another rod im guessing.
once this weather has cleared up, im happy to take you both out on the boat for some squid down the peninsula somewhere.
will be a while though as the regular deckies are having serious withdrawal symptoms from not being able to go due to the weather.

Sheesh, that is some bad misfortune, matari. Sorry to hear. I don't blame you for staying away from them, especially if they eat rods up every second cast.

Cheers, Bugatti

been using them for years now.. just got to be careful on how you cast as it is extra weight on the lure. but accidents can and do happen..

hahaha - no chance that this was captured on video was it?

unlucky with having the weight hit the rod though, no idea how that would even happen.
