Sorrento pier. 28/10
Drew yet another blank at Sorrento pier this morning. Started at 4.50am, lasted until 7 ish, when more and more charter boats rocked up, and the cold was by that stage just the cherry on the cake. Cycled through a few colours, tried a couple of different areas on the pier, no joy. That's 5 or 6 trips there now for 2 cuttlefish in total, gonna switch my attention to the other side of Rosebud, up toward Mornington for the next month or so, dependant on the weather.

Re: Sorrento pier. 28/10
Yes and no. Boat wise, yep, I think there are a better standard of squid in wwp, but landbased, ppb is far more more convenient for me, (and in general I reckon). Before you mention Flinders, I can't f***ing stand the place, a sea of baited floats, and a tackle graveyard.Jasonfish1234 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 28, 2019 12:10 pmWestern port is the best mate.CarlG wrote: ↑Sat Sep 28, 2019 12:01 pmDrew yet another blank at Sorrento pier this morning. Sorrento main pier is good for LJs but I've never had much success there with anything else. Flinders is awesome if you can stay off the pier

Re: Sorrento pier. 28/10
Sorrento is the first location fishing wise I learned after I moved to the peninsula about 12 years ago. At that time, it was a fair bit quieter than now, I've caught some good fish off that pier over the years, my pb flathead is still a 48 from there, along with some ripper whiting, and even small gummies undersize now and then. However, I've seen a marked decline in fin fish from there, to the extent where I only really fish for squid from there. Now and again, Salmon or Couta pass through there, and there'll be a mad rush, but apart from that, I stay away, especially in the upcoming time of year. As I've mentioned in another post, I've currently going through my worst spell ever squid wise down there, I reckon it's six trips, for one, (dropped), squid, and two cuttles. I might just be a rubbish squid fisho, (highly possible), or they may not be there, all I can say is, I'm doing the same things I always have, but just producing zero.

Hopefully you get into em soon.
I've found they are a bit picky atm. But some people have been bagging out, so luck of the draw I think..
