Fished a little backwater this evening.
Plenty of bream on the chew but nothing of any size.
Things got interesting when the bait fish schools were being chased by something, namely Estuary Perch.
Managed to get three, all about 40cm long and all on a curly tail grub.
Man they go hard on light tackle.

Re: EP's and Bream
40cm is huge!
And probably 15-20 years old.
They put up a good fight for sure.
Which grub lure did you use?
My mate went to Tyers couple weeks ago said baitjunkie bloodworm 2.5" was better than zman grub motor oil.
I thought zman motor oil grub is like the number one grub for bream.

Re: EP's and Bream
Thats a good session landbased mate.
EPs go hard. you can see why many people chase them on the light gear.

Re: EP's and Bream
Thanks Sebb. The grub was a greeny, bronzie thing with gold flecks in it. I've no idea what it is called. I just rumaged about in the tackle box and thought it might do the job.Sebb wrote: ↑Thu Dec 10, 2020 7:53 am40cm is huge!

There's a ton of good backwater fishing around these parts. The hardest part of it is to get into them, specially being landbased.
To this end I've just bought a canoe. I'll go down to Melbourne after Xmas to pick it up.
